Bath Premier League

Methodology

How the figures are built, what each statistic means, and where the sources stop.

The archive

The default universe is all 14 competitions, in this order: Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, Season 4, Season 5, Champions Cup, Shield, Season 6, Season 7, Season 8, Season 9, Season X, Season 11, Season 12. The Champions Cup and the Shield are full competitions and are included in every all-time figure unless you filter them out. There are 148 matches: 137 with original CricHeroes scorecards and 11 Season 1 fixtures reconstructed from handwritten cards. Two Season 12 CricHeroes listings were never played and are excluded everywhere.

All figures are generated at build time from the organiser-verified archive database, v4 (evidence-adjusted bowling), 29 October 2026. Nothing is typed in by hand.

Players and teams

Each player has a permanent archive ID. Scorecard spellings and duplicate CricHeroes accounts that the organiser confirmed as the same person are merged under that ID, and every spelling is searchable. Players move between franchises, so a player's team is taken from each match, never from a single fixed team. A player who appeared for two teams in one competition has both sets of performances summed.

A match counts towards a player's appearances when he has a recorded innings or bowling spell in it. Printed playing squads are shown on scorecards but are not treated as evidence of a performance.

Batting

  • Batting average = runs ÷ dismissals. A player never dismissed has no average; it is shown as a dash, not zero or infinity. Retired innings are not dismissals.
  • Runs per innings = runs ÷ batting innings. A separate measure of output per opportunity.
  • Strike rate = 100 × runs ÷ balls faced, using only innings with documented balls. Season 1 balls were not recorded, so career strike rates cover CricHeroes matches only.
  • Batting innings are counted once per player per innings. A 0 not out is not a duck; a duck is a dismissal for 0.

Bowling

  • Overs are displayed in six-ball notation: 2.4 overs means two overs and four balls, or 16 balls.
  • Economy = 6 × runs conceded ÷ displayed balls. Bowling average = runs conceded ÷ wickets. Strike rate = displayed balls ÷ wickets.
  • Rates use CricHeroes spells only. Season 1 wickets count in totals, but its overs were not recorded and its runs conceded are incomplete.
  • Wickets per match divides by matches played, not by spells.

Season 5 and Champions Cup penalty runs (v4)

These two competitions intended a three-run penalty for each wide and no-ball, but the scorer did not always set CricHeroes to award three. For a fair comparison with other competitions, the archive removes two runs per illegal delivery from the bowler's figure only where the scorecard proves the three-run rule was scored: the batting side's extras for that category are exactly three times the number of wides (or no-balls) recorded against the bowlers in that innings. Wides and no-balls are tested separately. Where the evidence is below, above or unclear, the printed figure stands.

Champions Cup1,015873−14234

44 bowlers' careers are affected. Wickets, overs, batting figures, team totals and results are never changed. The exact-three-times test is summary evidence, not ball-by-ball proof, so both figures are always available: scorecards show the printed and comparison columns side by side, and records pages have a switch. An earlier blanket adjustment (v3) is superseded and not used anywhere.

Because some illegal deliveries in these competitions occupied over positions rather than being re-bowled, displayed overs there are not certified legal-ball counts. Economy and strike rate are approximations in both competitions.

Team totals

Team totals are the official scores as printed. Indoor competitions could award powerplay bonus runs to the batting team, so an official total can exceed the batters' runs plus extras. That difference is shown on each scorecard but never credited to a batter or charged to a bowler. Two outdoor innings also carry an unexplained difference (one run in a Season 3 match, five in a Shield match); the cause is not confirmed.

Results and stages

Stages follow the organiser's confirmed structure rather than CricHeroes round labels, which are kept on each scorecard for reference. Results follow the organiser where the source is incomplete.

  • Season 4, Jaguars v Panthers: a regulation tie, won by the Jaguars in a super over. It counts as a Jaguars win and as a tie in tie counts. Super-over figures are separate from career statistics.
  • Season 9, Bulls v Jaguars: a regulation tie with no recorded decider.
  • Season 11: a three-team double round robin decided on bonus points (Jaguars 44, Bulls 18, Wolves 14). There was no final.
  • Season 12, Jaguars v Bulls: played and won by the Jaguars, but the final over was recorded incompletely. No margin is shown, and the reported individual figures are counted once.
  • Group tables show played, won, lost and tied only. No points system is assumed where the organiser did not supply one.

Qualifications

Rate leaderboards rank only qualified players by default. You can change these thresholds on the records page; players below them are listed separately and never ranked above qualified players.

  • Batting average: at least 5 batting innings.
  • Batting strike rate: at least 20 documented balls faced.
  • Economy: at least 4 displayed overs (24 balls).
  • Bowling average and strike rate: at least 4 wickets.

Season 1

Season 1 predates CricHeroes and was reconstructed from 22 photographed handwritten scorecards. Per-match runs, dismissals, wickets and some runs conceded survive and reconcile exactly with the organiser-reviewed Season 1 totals (923 runs, 68 wickets), so they appear in match records and filters. Balls, overs, fours, sixes, team totals and dates were not recorded and are never estimated.

Honours

Titles come from the competition register. Top run-scorer and wicket-taker are calculated within each competition, and ties are shown as joint. Participation-based championships credit a player who batted or bowled for the winning franchise in that competition; this is not an official medal list.

Effectiveness ratings

The effectiveness page explains its exploratory tournament-adjusted ratings in full. They are not official honours.

Known limitations

  • The type of three unclassified team runs in the Jaguars' Season 4 super-over chase is not recorded.
  • The missing final-over events of the Season 12 Jaguars v Bulls match cannot be recovered.
  • The three-times evidence test for Season 5 and the Champions Cup is a summary-level inference.
  • Season 1 has no ball counts, overs or team totals, and two of its results are marked tentative by the organiser.
  • “Kanav” in a Season 3 squad is confirmed as Kanav Batra, with no recorded performance and no permanent identity link.
